Ok, so I wake up on Friday morning, full of beans for an exciting day but with a twinge of nervous feelings about what lies ahead. Looking around the room, I see emptiness, mum and dad had been down the night before to collect everything (I realise I have the best parents in the world!). But, theres no time for sentimental reflection, not that it's possible after only four weeks in this room, but this was the end of one chapter in my life- the chapter I like to call 'Life in the Big City'.
So, this was it. My last day at Malvern House. It started brilliantly, lugging two suitcases and two handbags to school. Of course, I could take the 'easy' route and take the tube. Alas, I never do things by halves! I think Holborn to Picadilly is about a mile. No problem!
I have fun with my first class and after break, everyone goes to Tesco and brings lots of food. After the break, we join with Tom's class and do a bit of speed dating, swiftly followed by scoffing our little faces!! I notice a hot Brazilian in Tom's class and think things may be looking good for my trip.
My second class is also a lot of fun with more food and music. One of the Turkish students brings 5 containers full of the most wonderful Turkish food you can think of.
When the teaching is over, I go to the Teachers Room for possibly the last time. This is the place where I've laughed so much and made friends for life! When I finish faffing, ( being the queen of faffing) we go to the pub. I open my lovely presents, they were sooooo thoughful!
- two trashy gossip magazines
- a lovely all-in-one- playsuit
I love MH Teachers!!!!

Last day at Malvern
Then after a glass of wine, I say my goodbyes and Lizze and I go to the bus stop. After about half an hour trudging through the traffic and a slightly tipsy conversation with Sarah, I reach Paddington Train Station. From there, I take the very swanky Heathrow Express to the airport. When I get to the airport, I realise it's very early but I am able to check in my bags. My anxiety about having overweight luggage was completely unnecessary! I was allowed suitcases at 23kg and my biggest one was barely 20kg. Phew!
After checking in, I decide to kick back with my magazines and glass of wine and kind of get lost in time.
Fast forward to on the plane. It's absolutely huuuge! After sitting down in my seat, there is a long time before anyone takes the other two seats next to me. In the end, a guy from Bolivia takes the aisle seat and we're left with a space in the middle. Nice! On the long journey, I manage to see 'No strings attached', 'Wizard of Oz', 'Harry Potter' and eat a lot of the lovely plane food.
After a good many hours, we arrive in Sao Paulo. All I can say is 'Chaos!' We have to queue for around 2 hours, snaking around the airport, just to have our passports stamped. I meet a very cute guy who'd been living in London, but I could see he was with a very pretty girl. After chatting about how crap the airport was, and realising we both may have missed our connecting flights, he introduces the pretty girl as his sister. Bingo!
Finally, we get to the 'check in' for the connection and find out that the guy has missed his flight but I am in time for mine. Thank god! I pictured Analize waiting at the airport, with no way of us contacting each other with my battery dead.
Technically, this is Saturday now but it's all the same journey. After just 45 minutes, we arrive at Curitiba airport where Analize greets me with a little scream and a huuuge hug! Obviously, she's wearing big sunglasses and looking every inch the 'glamourpuss' that we saw in London.
We have a catch up in the car and when we get to the apartment, my jaw drops. Elegant, beautiful, sophisticated! I have a little nap. Cue the start of my first day.
